About Mangalsutra Design
Mangalsutra Design is a free idea gallery for anyone choosing a mangalsutra: a bride picking her first one, a woman looking for a lighter daily-wear piece, or a family planning a gift. You will find short and long designs, pendants and chains, gold, diamond and silver pieces, and regional styles from Maharashtra, South India, Nepal and the hills.
The pictures here are design illustrations created by our team as reference ideas. They are not products for sale and we do not sell jewellery. Show them to your jeweller, compare a few shapes, and let the jeweller adapt the design to your budget and gram weight.
What each design shows
- Approximate weight, so you can think about budget before you visit a shop.
- Length, from choker-short to long traditional strands.
- Where it suits, such as daily wear, office or the wedding day.
- A jeweller tip: one practical thing to ask or check when you order it.

Gold prices change every day, so we never list rupee prices. Our price guide explains how to work out the cost from weight, that day’s rate, making charges and GST.
